OpenRC F1

Formula 1 Race Car

Created by Daniel Norée, this 3D printable F1 R/C car is part of the OpenRC project and merges realistic design with functional engineering. Built with accessibility in mind, it’s optimized for PLA and requires minimal support structures during printing. The model is split into well-sized components to suit a variety of 3D printers and minimize tolerance issues. Designed to be fully assembled even without electronics, it can serve either as a working R/C car or a detailed display model. Norée paid special attention to keeping the iconic shape of a real F1 car while fitting all essential electronics inside. The rear engine placement and aerodynamic contouring posed particular design challenges. Compared to earlier OpenRC models, this version reduces complexity while maintaining visual and structural integrity. With thoughtful design choices and a community-focused approach, this F1 car highlights what’s achievable with desktop 3D printing in both form and function.

Complete Kit
This version contains all the required purchased parts for the project, excluding electronic components. That includes every fastener, bearing, and any additional hardware necessary for assembly. Simply print the 3D parts, and you’re ready to go.

Fasteners Kit
This kit includes only the screws, nuts, washers, and other fastening hardware needed for the project. I’ve carefully selected each component for quality and durability, using only A2 stainless steel to ensure corrosion resistance and long-term reliability.

Bearings Kit
This option contains just the bearings required for the project. I’ve sourced high-precision bearings to guarantee smooth and quiet operation, perfectly matched to the model’s mechanical requirements.
